The NMS Difference
NMS was founded in 2001 by studio owner Laurissa Neuenschwander. Laurissa wanted to create a piano studio where students would learn fast, but still achieve high standards.

NMS students don’t just learn pieces, they learn how to learn pieces. Instead of just notes they learn the building blocks of music: chords, patterns and harmony, so their knowledge is deep and lasting.
complete musicians
Students learn all aspects of musicianship to make them complete musicians. They study sight reading, performance, theory, improvisation, technique, harmony and ensemble playing.

I’m Laurissa
Nice to meet you!
I’m the founder and owner of Neuenschwander Music studio. I’ve been teaching piano for over 20 years. I received a Bachelor of Arts from Brigham Young University and a Bachelor of Piano Performance (Summa Cum Laude) from Weber State University. I’ve studied piano with Dr. Ralph van der Beek and piano pedagogy with Dr. Yu-Jane Yang. I love learning new ways to help my students learn faster and enjoy music more. I am a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music, a designation earned by less than 10 percent of all music teachers.
I enjoy running and reading and traveling with my family!
Kimberly
Kimberly has Bachelor of Piano Performance from the University of Utah and Masters in Piano Performance from Wichita State University. Kimberly specializes in teaching young children, with training in multiple pedagogies. She has previously worked at the Gifted Music School and the U of U Tanner Dance Program. Kimberly also enjoys composing music and performing.
